In an extremely infantile moment I signed up for the Live Earth mailing list using a sweary false name as they were scrolling a list of subscribers over the television coverage. This means that every week or so I get message from one of Al Gore's campaign team starting "Dear C**t,". Nearly 18 months on, and this never fails to a bring a smile to my face.Such a child.
Why are the BBC pumping out this Daily Mail-wank-fantasy crap? Reading between the lines, the story is actually that students aren't studying a tram timetable as part of an A-level English syllabus. The Did You Know? page contains lots of made up stories about parents being SHOT by POLICE for NOT forcing 8 year old boys to touch each other on the bottom, which are at least vaguely on topic, but then they just totally lose it and come out with "African Americans, while comprising 13% of the US population, accounted for 45% of the new HIV infections in 2006." Keep your focus, guys.

My Gmail address is very close to that of some American person and I occasionally get misdirected e-mail. Lately this has taken the form of missives from the John McCain campaign reminding to vote. The latest one informed me of "my" postal address (I might send other me a turd in a box if McCain wins) and gave me driving directions to my polling station, which is quite impressive, although you'd think some kind of verification of the e-mail address would have been a good idea before sending out personal information to it."Voters without valid identification are still permitted to vote but will be required to sign, under oath, an Affirmation of Identity form affirming their identity."
